CELEBRATING THE RIBBON CUTTING CEREMEONY ON AUGUST 17, 2009! READ PRESS RELEASE BELOW
Many companies operating with mixed fleets of diesel and natural gas engines like to use one oil for both applications. However, changes in engine design and lubricant requirements have made it much more difficult for one lubricant to provide superior performance in both applications. There are operating characteristics unique to natural gas engines which demand different additive technology.
Natural gas engine oils are formulated to specifically meet and withstand the effects of nitrogen and oxidation, which are common concerns in natural gas engine service. Nitration and oxidation generally lead to viscosity increase and deposits.
Tests performed on a laboratory test engine reveal that oils specifically designed for natural gas engines do a much better job of controlling viscosity increase than commercial diesel oils.
Universal Lubricants, Inc. recommends the use of a natural gas engine oil, such as Dyna-Plex 21C Sargas, Dyna-Plex 21C Orion or Universal Polaris as your product choice for natural gas engines. We also recommend close monitoring of drain intervals by utilizing Engine Guard Used Oil Analysis.
