Program Usage Instructions:

Please contact your Universal Lubricants' sales representative to activate your Engine Guard on the Web account. Your salesman will issue you a password and enable access to your data. In order to use Engine Guard on the Web, Universal Lubricants must be performing the Oil Analysis on your used oil samples.

• System requirements
• Cookies MUST be enabled. The cookie is used to keep track of your position in the database. The cookie will expire 20 days from the last time you access your Engine Guard results. No personal data is collected.
• Computer capable of running IE 5.5 or Netscape 5 or newer.
• Internet Explorer 6 or Netscape 5 or newer. Older browsers produce unpredictable results, incuding the data being presented from right to left, rather than left to right.
• Minimum screen resolution of 800 by 600 pixels.
• To print the reports, the printer must be capable of printing in landscape orientation.
• Program usage
• Engine Guard on the Web remembers your search criteria and the last unit viewed. Click Enter to continue a previous search or enter a new date (as a rule of thumb, set the SEARCH FOR date to the day you shipped the samples to Universal) and set UNIT FOR DATE SEARCH to 0 (zero). The zero will cause the testing results to start with the first Unit. When you arrive at the last sample, pushing the next button will tell you there are no more samples to be viewed.
• To print a report, click File > Print and choose landscape for your paper orientation.
• The color coding for Moderate, Critical & Excessive samples applies only to the wear metal results.
• To display your Engine Guard results you will need to enter your customer number (provided to you by your salesman when he gives you the password) and your password, then click the enter button.
• This will bring up the Search Criteria Window that provides several search options. You can view your Engine Guard results by Unit Number or by Test Date. You may view either All Samples or only those testing Abnormal. Search results will display in Unit order by default. If you select Location order, only units for the selected Location will be displayed.
  
• To Search by Unit:
  
1. Set the SEARCH TYPE to Unit ID
2. In the SEARCH FOR box type in a complete Unit-id or the first few characters of an Unit-id. If you prefer to view ALL units, starting with the first unit, enter 0 (zero) in the SEARCH FOR box.
3. The bottom two boxes, UNIT FOR DATE SEARCH and SEARCH HOW are not used with the Unit ID search.
• To view Samples by Test date--(This will display all sample data occurring on or after the date entered):
  
1. Set the SEARCH TYPE to Test Date
2. Enter the desired beginning date using an eight digit format i.e. Jan 1st, needs to be entered 01012003. Using spaces, dashes and/or slashes will confuse the program and generate an error message telling you to use the eight digit format. This will display those samples tested on or after the date entered.
3. In the UNIT FOR DATE SEARCH, you may enter the desired unit number OR 0 (zero) to start at the first unit tested for the date entered.
4. You can choose to display either ALL sample data or only those testing as ABNORMAL. Please remember the color coding for Moderate, High & Excessive samples applies only to the wear metal results. You will not see it in other columns.
5. To view new data, as a rule of thumb, set the SEARCH FOR date to the day you shipped the samples to Universal and remember to set the UNIT FOR DATE SEARCH to 0 (zero).
• Viewing your results:
• Once you've entered your search requirements and clicked on the enter button on the lower right, you will be taken to another screen displaying up to the last four test dates for the unit requested. There are 2 buttons on the upper left of this screen. Next will move you forward one record at a time through the database. Search will take you back to the search criteria selection screens (shown above) so you can change your search criteria.
• Should you wish to step back through the sample results, you will need to use the browser's back button.
• Example of a Test Data Search Scenario
• Some of your samples were tested on 04/01/2003 and others were tested several days later. Your search date is 04012003 (April 1, '03). You will see data from BOTH test dates by unit number.
• When you next log on to Engine Guard on the Web, you will be presented with the last sample you were viewing when you logged off. Engine Guard on the Web will also remember your search criteria.
• General Information
• We may be required to down the server for maintenance at irregular intervals. Should this happen, please try again in 10 to 15 minutes.
• We regard Engine Guard on the Web as a living document, and as such, we plan to enhance its usefulness and add features.

• Universal Lubricants Inc. warrants that all Engine Guard tests are conducted professionally, in accordance with all applicable standard laboratory practices, and the data from these tests are, to the best of our knowledge, accurate results for the samples submitted. Universal Lubricants Inc. is not responsible for inaccuracies due to improper sampling and/or inaccurate or incomplete information provided with the sample.
• When test data indicates warning or critical values and there is no previously established abnormal trend, the appropriate actions for users of this information is to immediately resample the equipment component in question. Universal Lubricants, Inc. DOES NOT RECOMMEND AN ENGINE OR OTHER COMPONENT OVERHAUL BASED ON THE DATA FROM ONE SAMPLE.
